Grow Grow Grow!

After a few days of rain, a lot more plants are emerging and blooming! Everything is growing in and turning green, and its all just so wonderful! *sigh* This morning it was quite warm out, so I trekked out into the garden - PJ's and all - and took some photos of whats popping up. Now, I'm not exactly sure what all of the plants are, some friends have told me a few, but if you know what any are, please let me know!

*Note* Because the pics are so big (for some reason, they wont be small) the right side of the landscape pictures are cut off, you can click on the photos for the full view.

These might be Giant Tiger Lilies, which are usually orange or yellow!!

This is a type of Lambs Ear, but I don't know what kind.. I don't even know what Lambs Ear is! But it is all throughout one part of my front garden.

I think these look like onions, but a friend suggested that it could be garlic. These are also scattered throughout my flower gardens.

Some type of ground cover in the front garden - its actually quite pretty, and stands up about 6".

Some very cute, and very small blueberry coloured flowers that hang like bells. I don't know what they are called, but they are very adorable!

Some long grass like foliage with last years cut stems. A friend of mine said she has them in her yard, and they are Day Lilies!

Hens and Chicks! I've never seen them before I moved into the house, and a friend pointed them out to me. They didn't just pop up, but you can see some new growth on them already! So cute, and great colours!!!

These look like big parsley leaves! But I have been advised that it is most likely a Geranium. There are a few pouffs of them here and there throughout the vegetable garden, and in the front garden.

Sedum ground cover, a green and red type - the red is called Dragons Blood, oOoOOo. These are found along the North West portion of the property.

A large leafed plant in the front, called Hosta - apparently can be confused with Elephants Ear (I have no idea what either are)...

The Daffodils are getting bigger, and blooming like crazy, and the round leaves to the bottom left are Hollyhocks (hopefully!)

WE'RE NOT WORTHY, WE'RE NOT WORTHY!!

Anyone who knows me, or has at least read my profile, will know that Wayne's World is my #1 favorite movie of ALL TIME! I can literally recite the movie from beginning to end, I've dressed up as Wayne and Garth with a friend for Halloween, and I have most likely seen the movie over 1000 times. The only thing I regret is not being older to have seen it in theater. Well... last night I saw Alice Cooper in concert, and all I could think about was Wayne and Garth meeting Alice Backstage...

"Does this guy know how to party or what! huh? huh? huh... okeee..."

Seriously, this is a Wayne's World dream come true! I have never seen Alice Cooper live before, and I doubted I ever would (considering he is the same age as Mikey's dad!). The show was just what I expected, and more! We got to our seats which were 5 rows up from the right of the stage - excellent - and expected to see an opening act. The lights dimmed, and a huge curtain covering the stage that said "Theater of Death" light up, and then fell down to reveal Alice Cooper himself, decked out in a full leather get up, singing "School's Out". The floor and seats quickly filled in and the place was happening!

Throughout the show, there was an "Itchy & Scratchy" rivalry between Alice and a naughty nurse that included a guillotine, an iron maiden type contraption, hanging by a noose, strangling, stabbing, and other theatric violence that kept the act very interesting, and kept me wondering what was going to happen next! The order of the songs along with the theatrical story was put together perfectly, and I was completely in awe of all the props, costumes, and (of course) the music. I literally smiled through the entire show and sang along to all my favorites (which were most of them)! There was a fantastic mix of older to newer songs, but the only one they didn't play which I wish they did was "Feed My Frankenstein" - for obvious reasons.

All in all, I was very impressed, and would recommend the Theater of Death to everyone!

Party on Wayne! Party on Garth!

Pantry Makeover!!!

I'm so proud of myself! Along with the help of Ikea, I truly can make any space beautiful, even the small and inefficient ones! We have a weird room off of the kitchen, smushed between the outside mud room, and door to the basement. I think this weird room was originally the mud room/back entrance and the mudroom we have now is an add on. Either way, it had some strange shelving built onto the one wall which consisted of two deep shelves with a clothes railing, and 1 narrow shelf off to the left. This room also houses our electrical panels.

Here are some before pictures (click on the picture to view full size):

I've been using this room as a storage area for kitchen things like the rolling dishwasher, boxes of garbage bags, canning equipment and jars, brooms, mops, and alike. But I would prefer if it could function more as a pantry to hold storage and dry food items, extra and decorative dishes, small appliances, etc, etc. The room was painted white, grey, and high gloss dusty pink... and it had a kitty cat wall paper boarder which we took down ASAP!!!

Since moving in, Mikey and I have replaced the light fixture with something simple and cheap from Ikea, but haven't worked on the room other than that. During this past weekend, I decided that I have had enough with this room, and the junk it was collecting, so we took down the shelving. I've painted the room green - which is the same colour as our kitchen/dining room accent wall (Asparagus, by Behr) - and have purchased some "heavy duty" shelving from Ikea.

Here is the room after being prepped and then painted:

<- view into kitchen

The storage system we chose is wall mounted, with 2 long, deep galvanized metal shelves at the bottom, and 4 long, narrow wooden shelves at the top. Total cost with all the pieces was only $185 or so! The unit fits everything I wanted it to store, and keeps it all very organized and neat. Not to mention it looks 100% better!! YAY! Thank you Ikea for saving my weird panty room dilemmas! Now I just have to paint the trim and the ceiling white!

Front Deck mini Makeover

I had this past Friday off, so I decided to spend it in the garden! I pulled weeds (with this really cool weed puller we got!), raked leaves and started to pick up sticks, I watered flowers, took pictures of all the cute things growing in the garden, and then I decided that the front deck needed a makeover! I'll try to explain this as clearly as possible - but the pictures will help.

Our front deck is only about a foot, foot and a half off the ground. The west side of the deck is up against the house, the North and South ends of the deck are open, and the East side of the deck has a railing with really ornate pillars, which are super wide and block your view to the pretty yard - which are not spaced to code anyhow. When you sit down and look out to the yard, all you see is railing. I thought it was kind of funny to have the railing only along only one side, especially along the side that you want to look out from while you're sitting on your deck.

The deck could also use some ambient lighting (along with 20 other upgrades), but I figured I could do something with the existing railing, and some lighting to make it esthetically pleasing, and serve a purpose. Mikey and I bought some solar post lights from Wall-Mart (an 8 pack for $60) and then got to work.

This is what it looked like before, while Mikey started taking down the ornate pillars (click on pics to make them full size):

<- Heh, cute tiki man (his eyes light up at night)

**Note that Mikey is using a screwdriver to take it apart** Maybe 10 minutes after this, Mikey got a fire call and had to leave. That's when I busted out the power drill, and finished taking everything down in about the same amount of time:

Then I took the beams that went across at the top, and moved them down:

After that, I just had to wait until Mikey got home so he could saw off the posts to a shorter length, and then we attached the post lights!

It looks so much better, seems to make the deck feel so much larger, and adds a great feel to the whole front yard. I will post a photo of it at night, I just have to wait till it gets darker, and I can get a pic of the lights on! Now all thats left for the deck makeover is to stain it (dark brown maybe?), re-building the steps up to the front door, fixing the area along the house that has been chopped up for some reason.. etc etc etc.

Tilling Away Today

It feels so good to see progress in the garden, and know that in less than 2 weeks, I will be planting in the actual garden!!! YAY! In preparation, Mikey and I have borrowed a tiller from his dad, he has 4 - each ranging in different sizes... Whoa! The one we borrowed is bigger than a flower bed tiller, but still small enough to get around corners, and till up the garden in a good amount of time!

I've never used one before but they are pretty easy to use, and easier to start than our go karts. It does pull you around a lot, so I let Mikey do the tilling while I followed behind with a rake to smooth it all out. Here is a picture of the smaller garden area tilled, and then Mikey working on a longer strip in between the smaller and larger garden (click on pics for full size):

We'll be working up the larger garden in a day or two. It has been very warm out this past week, and tons of green things are popping up in the garden! Here are a few:

Daffodils:

Rhubarb:

Tulips (have not yet bloomed)

Hyacinths:

AND, Birch Trees:

*GUSH* I'm so excited! I think I have a new crush on Spring time!! (Don't tell Fall, it would be devastated!) Later in the evening, Mikey and I took down this monstrosity of carpentry that boxed in the area around the gas meter and piping. The previous owner pieced together some sort of table (I guess...) and, even had a board screwed up against the side of the garage! What a great way to collect snow, leaves, debris, water, and create mold, rot, and other yucky things!

When we were taking it apart, we found a bush underneath, that was still alive, and its starting to put out green buds!! Wow this bush must be hardy! After Mikey dismantled all the pieces, I raked out all the leaves and debris, and found that the soil underneath was actually perfect for a shallow flowerbed! I propped up a leftover piece of wood, and filled the area with some growing medium, Theeeeennn I can sprinkle on some wildflower seeds which will fill in the area a bit better!

I was seriously so impressed with the transformation, and how amazing it looked after, I literally just stood there in awe for 10 minutes. I couldn't help but think "what the hell was that guy thinking when he built that there?" LOL! Here is two before pictures, its really hard to see exactly how crappy this thing was, and I REALLY regret not taking a photo of it myself before hand - up close. Here it is from one of the listing photos, and then one from our possession:

It may not seem like that much of a difference, but if you saw it in person, you would be amazed! This is what it looks like now:

Potato Chip Chicken

I'll admit it! We've been a bit lazy on the grocery shopping and got low on food, so I've been getting a bit creative and stretching anything that I can hold on to as leftovers for the next meal. Not the weekend that just passed, but the weekend before, Mikey bought a big bag of ketchup chips that Ashley and I devoured except all the broken pieces in the bottom. I held onto the bag until I figured out what to do with them.

So today, I decided to use the leftover ketchup chips as part of a "batter" on some chicken thighs I was going to cook up on the BBQ! I put the chips into a large zip lock bag, and made sure they were all crushed very small. I added some bread crumbs to make sure I had enough to cover all the chicken. I dipped all the chicken into a beaten egg, and then placed all pieces into the bag of chips, and shook.

As the chicken cooked on low, I boiled up some sweet potatoes that I had chopped up and put in the freezer a month or two ago. Mikey made a Caesar salad, and we went outside to eat! (YAY, SUMMER IS ALMOST HERE!!!) Mikey also mentioned that it would be good with a BBQ chips, and I thought it would be yummy with a Doritos! Looks like we have a lot of experimenting to do! So here it is:

Starting Seeds!

You know, I started this blog so that I could tell you all about my gardening experiences, and I haven't really written about that yet! Today I planted some new seeds, and remembered that I should write about it! Perhaps I should go through everything that I have grown so far!

Avocados:
Apparently you can save avocado seeds, suspend them in water so they will crack open, and form a root and sprout! I thought that was such a cool idea, so I saved 2 seeds, and started trying. I started them at the beginning of March, but nothing has happened so far, (even tho it can take a few months) but then a friend of mine advised me that it might not be safe to have an avocado plant in my house. I did some research and found that the seed, plant and leaves can be deathly toxic to animals! (and we all know how cats - and some dogs - love to chew on our house plants) So, I decided to compost them.

Pineapples:
If you chop off the top of the pineapple and save the crown, you can apparently grow that as well! I saved 2 crowns and tried to allow them to produce roots by suspending them in a glass of water. There were some really super small roots that had formed - but didn't get long enough before the plant started to rot, and smell extremely gross! I have composted them since, and will try again next time I buy a pineapple.

Seeds started indoors in the middle of March:
Sunberries, Onions (early crop), Ground Cherries, Celery, Petunias, Sweet Peppers, Hot Peppers, Catnip, Strawberries, Tomatoes.
About 7 days after sowing, my Tomatoes, Petunias and Onions started to sprout. 11 days later, Celery and Strawberries sprouted. It took 13 days for the Peppers to come up, and 14 for the Ground Cherries. 18 days for the Sunberries, and the Catnip... never germinated.

Seeds started indoors in the middle of April:
Lettuce, Pumpkins, Watermelons, Cantaloupe, Catnip (again), Squash, Brussels Sprouts, Cucumber, Cabbage, Cauliflower, and Broccoli!

I have transferred my Tomatoes into coir pots because they all have 2 true leaves forming now. Soon I will transplant them into the greenhouse. I also planted some seeds from a lemon - just for kicks. If they grow, they grow. If they don't, no biggie. It's not like I'm expecting to get fruit from them, I would just like to see if I could actually grow them, and maybe keep them as a nice pruned house plant!

Tomatoes in their new coir pots

A friend of mine gave me some Amaryllis Flower bulbs that came in a kit. They have a pot and soil already, all you have to do is water it. I put them out and watered them on the 12th, and they are already starting to put out green sprouts. And, I have also noticed some flowers blooming in my garden! I have no idea what kind they are, but they are small and cute!

There are some more flowers almost ready to bloom on the left!

Poor Rocksteady...

What a day this turned out to be! I'd say at about 1pm, I came into the house from the garage sale - probably to go to the bathroom or something - and walked over to Rocksteady (the cat) who was laying on her perch in the living room! I went to go pet her, and she kinda rolled onto her side - like she normally does - to get a good behind the ear scratch... but then her front paw came up over her head, sticking straight out, stiff as a board!

I got a bit concerned, and didn't know what was going on! I helped her up from her side, and sat her up a bit. Then both front paws came out from under her, sticking straight out - in the air - and stiff! She was looking at me, and didn't seem to know what was going on either. it kind of sounded like she was purring, and lightly sneezing or something, but not like any purr I've ever heard from her before, and she was also vibrating or shaking....

I freaked out and ran outside to get Mikey. By the time he had come in, she seemed ok, repositioned herself, and went back to sleep. I said "I think Rocksteady just had a seizure!" and explained what I had saw. I was so distraught about what had just happened that I started to cry, so Mikey started looking up Veterinarian's in the phone book. He called around until he found one that was open in Stony Plain, (or was it Spruce Grove..) that had an opening for 2:15pm.

We don't have Rocksteady's cat carrier anymore because we've never needed to bring her anywhere, so instead I put Rocksteady's bed in a laundry basket. When I picked her up off of her perch, she was as limp as a noodle, didn't struggle or even "hold on" to me like she normally does. I put her in the truck, and Mikey drove off to the vet. I stayed behind to run the garage sale and watch the dog. Mikey said that while he was driving, halfway through the ride it seemed as if something clicked, and she realized where she was. She started getting all mobile, trying to jump out of the basket, and was crying...

I thought about it for a bit after they left, and tried hard not to cry in front of the garage sale customers. (reminds me of that scene from "Night at the Roxbury" when all the customers at the silk plant store are depressed...) I remember on Monday or Tuesday, Rocksteady had barfed at least 4 times, mostly downstairs, and then once upstairs. All throughout the week she had looked pretty haggard, she ate hardly anything, she wasn't cleaning herself, she walked around all slowly, and just kinda hid all day! So maybe she had previously had one of these Seizure episodes during the week, that I had not known about?

Because of all these behaviors over the last week, I just figured she had a "cold"... Maybe it was more than that! I called up a girlfriend that works in the medical field, and described the symptoms and what had happened to make me think she had a seizure. She agreed that it seemed pretty possible, and listed a few things that could cause it - such as clotting or bleeding in the brain (Scary!). Mikey called me back shortly after, and let me know that the Vet said the worst possible cause could be rabies... RABIES!? like... foaming at the mouth rabid crazy dog rabies? Yeah... Rabies.

Of course that is the worst case scenario, there are a multitude of others that could be a factor, yet they all still sound like they will have a bad/sad conclusion. Mikey told me that the Vet took a blood sample, and that Rocksteady will have to be watched all week, is not allowed outside for the next 2 weeks (pet quarantine), and that we'll have to get a peepee sample... that will prove to be interesting!

Once Mikey was back home, I brought Rocksteady in from the truck, and put her basket down on the floor. She hopped out, but didn't exactly land right and kinda fell. I noticed the front of her neck was shaved from the blood sample that was taken. She wandered into the kitchen kinda aimlessly, and once there, she flopped on the floor and laid flat out on her side. Then, she got up, walked into the hallway, and flopped down on the ground again. I went to go pet her, but she seemed "out of it" and didn't really have any response. Then she got up again and crawled under the bed in the guest room, which is her usual hiding spot.

Again, I got so upset! She seemed so different, so... unusually "blank". I just sat there and cried. My cat, full of personality, could chat up a storm, and was always so cuddly, didn't want to have anything to do with it. I eventually got myself back together, and went back outside to help Mikey with the garage sale, as well as re-pot my tomato plants into my coir pots. It helped take my mind off of it, and Mikey and I ended up making quite a few good sales so far. I also got some crocheting in between customers - I'm working on an over sized beach bag/tote, I'll put up pics when I'm done.

I came inside to bring in some stuff, and start dinner, and decided to go check on the cat. Rocksteady was sleeping downstairs on the bed in the man den. I went in to pet her, and she seemed very well. She was very responsive, meowed, cuddled, and purred. *sigh* What a relief! For now she seems ok! I kept an eye on her when she got up and left, and followed her over to her food. Seemed like her balance is off a bit. She ate a bit of food and drank some water, also very relieving. Then she tried to run up the stairs, but slipped a few times, so I helped her. Now she's just sleeping, and hopefully she stays well until we get the blood and pee results back.

Lets hope for the best!

I love you Rocksteady!

The Weekend is here!

We are having another garage sale this weekend! But this time the weather is going to be beautiful!!! +22 this afternoon!!! WOO HOO!!! Maybe my pasty skin will actually get some colour, that would be miraculous! While I was at work yesterday, I noticed a few people had sun burns - probably from working outside all day! Speaking of the weather, 3 of my weather photos are showcased on the Tomahawk Weather Network page!

Today I also need to sow some more seeds to start indoors, and possibly replant my tomatoes into Coir pots - which is a great alternative to peat. Here is what my seed supplier has to say about Coir vs. Peat and Plastic:

"Contained in the study “Environmental Plan for the Floral & Nursery Industry”, we are told that over 140 million pounds of plastic pots are thrown away at the end of each season in North America. Other studies show that over 3 billion tons of carbon dioxide (a greenhouse gas) is given off each year from the harvest of peat. With these astounding figures in hand, we are hopeful that our customers will seriously consider an alternative to plastic and peat growing containers.

While it is only a matter of time before the world is forced to lessen its dependence on these products, we at Veseys want to take a proactive approach to improving our gardeners’ stewardship of the planet. We invite you to consider these alternate Green products so that you can make a choice that you can feel good about when starting your favourite flower and vegetable plants.

Coconut trees grow new coconuts on a monthly basis therefore leaving the environment fully intact. Peat on the other hand takes approximately 220 years to renew itself. Compared to peat, this line of Coir (coconut fiber) seed starting products has a higher resistance to mold, produces visibly better & faster plant growth and rehydrates easily requiring up to 30% less watering. As parts of Europe are banning the use of peat by 2010, Coir is quickly becoming an ecological alternative for pots, pellets and growing strips. Made from 100% biodegradable organic material, coir products are more durable than peat and can be transplanted directly into your garden or planter."

The choice is clear! Coir pots all the way! And I will always re-use my plastic pots! Have a great weekend everyone!

How to make this summer a little more green!

Now that I have my own yard, garden and home, I have been doing a ton of research on how to lessen my impact on the planet while I garden, BBQ and relax in the sun this summer - even if it is something small and seemingly insignificant, even these small steps can add up to overcome great feats. I am determined to make my garden chemical free, and be confident that I will grow safe fruit and veggies for me, my family, and probably some friends, while giving the environment a break! I know I've posted this on Facebook and previously on the old blog, but here it is again - because its a great reference!

Our garden - picture from sale listing last summer.

Here are a few tips that I have come across and have already, and will be executing during my spring and summer lawn and garden care:

Looking for a chemical free all purpose fertilizer? Make one yourself! Add 1 teaspoon of horticultural molasses, 1 tablespoon of liquid kelp, and 2 tablespoons of fish fertilizer to 2 quarts of water (all available at your garden center) and then sprinkle away! (Apparently helps your tomatoes taste as sweet as ever!)

Weeds won’t kill you, but toxic pesticides will! Here are a few eco-friendly options for you, and your lawn! Over seeding and mowing regularly to a height of 3" keeps weeds at bay. Remove weeds by hand before they go to seed, and make your own herbicide by spraying a mixture of gin and vodka with water on weeds (carefully avoiding other plants). Straight vinegar and flat Cola also works. They'll be dead in a week.

Trying to choke out weeds with more grass? Plant low maintenance
fescues or perennial rye grasses. Over 90% of grass seed sold in garden centers contains Kentucky bluegrass - rethink that option because it is super thirsty and needs lots of water and chemical inputs to look happy and healthy. I picked up a 2kg bag of "Canada Green" high density premium grass seed, which is a mixture of perennial turf-type ryegrasses, and creeping red fescue for about $17 at Canadian Tire!

In the market for a new lawn mower? Did you know that running a two-stroke gas powered mower for one hour can puff out as much pollution as driving a new car for 550 km? If you must have a gas model, opt out for a 4 stroke instead – they are
70% more efficient and choke out less smog-inducing fumes that two-stokes. Electric models are even 90% less polluting then their gas cousins. Check out Mow Down Pollution – the largest dirty mower take back program in Canada (through Home Depot)! To date, the program has retired over 35,000 inefficient mowers and trimmers and has prevented more than 1,500 tones of greenhouse gas and smog-forming emissions.

Watering your lawn and garden isn’t always a walk in the park. Try to water early in the morning or late evening to avoid the water from being evaporated in the hot sun. Instead of sprinkler watering, water deeply with drip and soaker hoses (about $25 each from Canadian Tire) which you can bury in the soil or place along plant beds. Make a point to save
and use rainwater for garden watering to save yourself on water costs!

But don’t just grab for any rubber hose! Several leach unsafe levels of LEAD into your water, and then into your plants, fruits, and veggies! Look for hoses labeled “safe for drinking”! I picked up some “Apex” Healthy Habitat hoses at Canadian Tire for about $25 each. They are lead and phthalate free, and are even made with reduced material with equal strength as any other hose!

You’re probably thinking about replacing those broken, cracked and stained plastic patio chairs... probably a good idea to exchange them for something more renewable, healthy, and stronger! Naturally weather-resistant bamboo is an exotic option that’s actually sustainable compared to a material like teak. If you’re looking for strength, take a gander at wrought iron – it will last forever! If you still want plastic, opt for patio furniture made from recycled plastic – its sturdy and low maintenance – but it can be pretty expensive! Wooden furniture would be best bought in cedar – cedar has natural oils which allow it to age naturally and stay strong, that means no chemical sealants or treatments are needed.

Time to kick that broken BBQ to the curb eh? Just remember that charcoal and wood BBQ’s send soot and smog inducing carbon monoxide into the air – these should be curbed as well. When looking for a new BBQ – beware of cheapies! Steer clear from chrome coated aluminum, which chips easily, leaving you with bare aluminum cooking surface –
not good for the brain cells! You’re safest bet is cast iron or stainless steel grills. The porcelain coated kinds are very common, and also quite good. Did you know BBQ’ing with either natural gas or liquid propane are both more efficient that cooking in your kitchen oven! So go get some fresh air already!

It's that time of year again!

Babies, babies, everywhere! Yesterday I did a maternity photo shoot with Ashley and her daughter Ella! The weather wasn't extremely nice, so we made the best of it, wearing warm woolly clothing outside, and tresspassing in my neighbors field. Then experimenting with my fun coloured walls and different outfits inside! I'm pretty impressed with how things turned out, despite our limitations! All the photos are up here, but these are some teasers: (click for full view)

I got a job!

This morning, I went for my first job interview in almost 3 years at the Tomahawk General Store! I haven't worked since September, so it will be nice to have some income again, not to mention being able to pay off some of my bills that have been waiting since. I recently closed my bank account because they were charging me so much for money that I didn't have. I figured that it could be months, maybe even years before I get a job or some sort of income again, so I would be better off closing it before I owe the bank money too!

I start work this Thursday, and I'm so nervous yet very excited! Its nice to have something to look forward to, and work towards. This way, I can also put money towards the greenhouse and hopefully by next year - sell some veggies and plants (which is my ultimate goal)! Now to clean the house and make plans for a celebration dinner for tonight before Bingo at the Ag. Center!

Strange Weekend

Honestly - the garage sale has NOT been a very good success, but I blame it on the horribly cold weather, and high winds! We definitely had more people, and a few more purchases compared to yesterday, but definitely not the same kind of "business" as the garage sales we have had at the farm. Tomahawk doesnt get as much drive by business as we did at the farm. Being right along Highway 16 AND 16a, we would make $600 easily in one weekend! So far, I don't think we've even made $100!!

After Mikey got home with Jolene (the Impala), he was called out to 2 fires during the rest of the day. That's a total of 7 fire calls in the last 6 days I believe. (Hopefully his fire cheque will be nice enough to cover any "loss" from the garage sale - heating the garage, lighting the garage, eating take out all weekend....)

When I walked the dog tonight before retiring for the evening, Colt and I saw 7 white tailed Deer running through the back field (the same one in the pics below, with the snow, then sunset). They looked so pretty, and ran far enough until all you could see was a little white dot swinging back and forth, as their bodies blended into the drab backdrop. *sigh* Wildlife is AWESOME!

Garage Sale AND a Job Interview!

Mikey finally sold the old 1948 Plymouth, and is off to the farm to help the new owner load it up, and take it home. They stopped by here to pick Mikey up, and then Mikey will drive the 1961 Impala home! That sure worked out great! Then he'll be back here in about an hour and a half to help me with the Garage Sale! (Which is open 9-9!)

We have the entire Garage set up with tons of clothing, shoes, kitchenware, electronics, music, movies, and tons more! I'm surprised we got it all set up by noon yesterday! The traffic we got was a bit slow tho, there were about 10 cars that stopped. I'm sure that the weather isn't helping - its sooo windy and cold - but the garage is heated at least! Hopefully today will be better - the sun is starting to come out, but its still really windy.

Some better news - I have a job interview at the General Store on Monday! That is so exciting! Especially after living here for 3 months, and not getting any calls! So wish me luck!!!
